Williams decided to quietly get on with its own thing at Valencia, not even doing a roll out for the FW33. On the positive side we have now completed the systems checks on fuel, aerodynamics and cooling and were able to do start simulations, so with the fact we have another full day of testing tomorrow with both race drivers and the power steering we are aiming to step up to focusing on performance on our private day in Valencia.” “Under those circumstances 38 laps was the full programme and I want to say well done to Jarno for completing the plan in a car that was clearly hard work to drive. “We had a limited programme due to the lack of power steering on the car” explained Mike Gascoyne. Expect this team to worry the likes of Williams. Team Lotus has a lot to do but this year it has a lot of time to do it in. It also means that the team is lacking on long runs and tyre data (it was running too slowly to really work the rubber). It limited most of the test to looking at launch systems, aero testing and basic systems checks. It was a good call as a power steering issue dogged the car after it’s roll out on Wednesday. Team Lotus skipped the first day of the Valencia test opting to carry out a private test day at the end of the week instead. Laps completed: 144 (skipped 1 st day and ran extra day) Also it should be noted that testing pace is rarely indicative of the full potential of the cars. Note: 2010 spec cars are in italics, it is not reliable to make direct comparisons between them and the 2011 cars due to regulation changes. Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo
